PENDLETON — The Pendleton High School culinary classes under the leadership of Kristin Swaggart will serve food in support of the Grillin’ for Grants fundraiser.

The event showcases the new PHS food truck, which will provide a meal of barbecued tri-tip, baked beans, salads, bread and cheesecake. PHS principal Dan Greenough will man the meat grill.

In its third year, Grillin’ for Grants is a fundraiser for the Education Foundation of Pendleton. It is Thursday, Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center, 1601 Westgate. Advance tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce, the Pendleton School District office, Pendleton Art+Frame or from foundation board members.

Many local businesses are supporting the event, said Michele Madril, publicity chairwoman and a foundation board member. The evening also includes live and silent auctions.

The foundation uses money to provide enrichment opportunities for Pendleton students. It has helped fund field trips, conferences, workshops, speakers and artist-in-residence programs at local schools. Last year, they approved $22,000 in grants.
