PENDLETON — Delicious bowls of soup and a silent auction are featured during a Domestic Violence Awareness Month event.
Domestic Violence Services is seeking gift baskets, valued at $40 or more, to be used for a silent auction. If people don’t have the time or resources to create an entire basket, they are invited to donate what they have and organizers will assemble a basket.
In its 14th year, the Soup Bowl Supper & Silent Auction is Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Sisters Cafe, 308 S. Main St., Pendleton. The cost is $25 per person. People get to keep their bowls, which are handcrafted by Clay in Motion.
A nonprofit organization, Domestic Violence Services has served Umatilla and Morrow counties for more than 40 years. In addition to shelters in Pendleton and Hermiston, it maintains a 24-hour crisis line (800-833-1161), provides safety planning, life skills classes, support groups and other advocacy activities for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.
