A Sunridge Middle School student was arrested Sunday after making a threat about potential school violence over social media, according to a Pendleton School District press release.

The student in custody originally sent the message over social media to another student Sunday night, prompting a Pendleton Police Department investigation and the arrest.

Police determined that it was safe for students to attend school on Monday and a police officer will be stationed on campus for the entire day.

The student remains in custody and will not be allowed to return to school until the investigation concludes.
