BOARDMAN — The cause of a fire in Boardman is still under investigation, and sent one man to the hospital Friday afternoon for smoke inhalation.

Marty Broadbent, Boardman Fire Department’s fire marshal, said around 1:39 p.m., firefighters responded to a shed fire at 126 NW Columbia Ave. The shed, which Broadbent described as a “home shop,” was on a private property, and was largely destroyed, as were its contents.

Broadbent said one man was in the shop at the time the fire started, and neighbors dragged him out. He was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston, for treatment.

Broadbent said Boardman fire and police, and the Irrigon ambulance, were on scene until about 3:30 p.m.
