Hermiston bests Davis in three

HERMISTON 3, DAVIS 0 — The Hermiston Lady Bulldogs won in three sets in their home non-conference match against Yakima’s Davis High School — 25-17, 25-21, and 25-18.

This is Hermiston’s second victory in a row after defeating Chiawana last week, 3-0.

Sophia Streeter had eight kills with only one error, hitting over .500, and had six blocks. Daisy Maddox had eight kills, three blocks, and five digs. Courtnee West scored five aces and 10 assists. Halee Stubbs scored big with 18 digs, and Ireland McDonough had 15 total kills for the night.

“Tonight, we finally figured out how to battle through some messy plays and focus on what we’re doing on our side of the net,” said Hermiston coach Amy Dyck.

They now stand with a balanced 2-2 record, and will host Kennewick on Thursday.

HELIX 3, ELGIN 0 — Helix evened out their record after defeating Elgin during their home game on Tuesday night.

The Grizzlies won in three sets, 25-10, 25-21, and 25-13.

“We came out firing on all cylinders tonight,” said Helix coach Daniel Headley. “Our league season is a full go from here on out, and this was a huge win for us.”

Helix served 94 percent with a ratio of 10 aces-to-5 errors on 76 serve attempts. Kyle Harper lead the team, with 23 error-free serves and three aces.

Arianna Krol lead offensively with 11 kills on 16 swings.

The Grizzlies are now 2-0 in the league, and 5-5 overall. They will travel to Imbler next Tuesday.

SHERMAN 3, IONE 1 — Ione lost a tense home game against Sherman Tuesday night, falling in four sets, 26-24, 25-23, 25-15, and 25-16.

After claiming the first set and barely losing the second set by just two points, the Cardinals lost sets three and four, bringing their league record down to 0-3, and their overall record to 2-10.

They will travel to Dufur on Thursday.

ECHO 3, SOUTH WASCO COUNTY 2 — Echo won after a five-set home game against South Wasco County.

After winning the first two sets 25-22 and 26-24, they suffered two losses, 25-15 and 25-23. However, they made a return to claim the night 25-12.

Alex Putman had 37 digs, Lexi Cox had 16 kills, Katlynn Jackson had 26 serves with five aces, and Annie Barnes had a 100 percent serving average for the night.

They will travel to Sherman on Thursday.

WESTON-MCEWEN 3, WALLA WALLA VALLEY ACAD. 2 — Weston-McEwen won their Tuesday night home game after five sets.

After winning their first set 25-18, they lost sets two and three 25-21 and 25-22. They came back strong in sets four and five to win the game, 25-17 and 15-6.

Bryce Thul had 13 kills and 28 assists. Ellie Scheibner had 15 assists and three kills. Hailey Weaver had 21 kills and three blocks. Carrie Hazen scored 13 digs with three kills, and Trinity Hearn scored three aces.

“This is the most complete game we’ve played so far this season,” said Weston-McEwen coach Shawn White. “It was a great game against a very good team.”

The team now has a record of 13-2, and will kick off their league on Thursday against Pilot Rock.


PRESCOTT 7, IRRIGON 0 — The Irrigon Knights added another loss to their record Tuesday night, after losing to Prescott 7-0.

The Knights now stand with a 0-5 overall record. They will travel to Four Rivers in Ontario on Saturday.

MAC-HI 3, THE DALLES/DUFUR 1 — The Mac-Hi Pioneers defended their home grounds, besting The Dalles/Dufur 3-1.

Mac-Hi remains undefeated after three nonleague games so far this season. They will host Ontario on Saturday.

UMATILLA 3, PORTLAND CHRISTIAN ACAD. 3 — Umatilla’s Tuesday home game against Portland Christian Academy ended in a 3-3 tie.

The Vikings now have a 1-1-1 record after a win against East Linn and a loss against Mac-Hi. They will host Tigard’s Westide Christian High School on Thursday.


PORTLAND CHRISTIAN ACAD. 3, UMATILLA 0 — The Lady Vikings were shut down by the Portland Christian Academy on Tuesday night, losing 3-0.

This is Umatilla’s third loss of the season. They will move forward with a 0-3 overall record as they travel to Tigard to play Westside Christian High School on Thursday.

LA GRANDE 3, RIVERSIDE 0 — The Riverside Pirates lost on their home field after La Grande defeated them 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Riverside now has a 2-2-1 overall record, and will host Riverdale (1-0) on Saturday.

MAC-HI 3, THE DALLES/DUFUR 1 — Mac-Hi defeated The Dalles/Dufur during their away game at The Dalles High School on Tuesday night.

The Lady Pioneers have yet to lose a game this season, and came off of last Saturday’s tie against Banks. They will play their first league game of the season when they host Ontario on Saturday.
