TigerScots take sixth in state volleyball playoffs

Weston-McEwen defeats Glide, falls to Coquille in playoff double-header

Weston-McEwen’s volleyball season ended Saturday with a sixth-place trophy.

The TigerScots played back-to-back matches. The team opened the day with a five-set win over Glide. After Glide took the first set 25-22, Weston-McEwen came back strong in the second and third, claiming both with at 25-21. Glide won set four 25-19, but the TigerScots secured the win in the fifth, 15-11.

Bryce Thul led the team against Glide with 10 digs, 20 assists, six kills, six blocks, and three aces. Ellie Schiebner recorded 11 digs, nine assists, three kills, and four blocks. Hailey Weaver scored 17 kills and 10 blocks. Keree Graves had eight digs and four kills, and Jesse Manning had 16 digs, two kills, and scored one ace against Glide.

The TigerScots’ following match against Coquille didn’t end as well, losing in three, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18.

Thul once again led the team with eight digs, 10 assists, and five kills. Tyree Burke recorded six kills, four blocks, and three aces. Emma Olson had 10 digs and was 12-12 on serving. Jesse Manning had 10 digs, three kills, and was 10-10 on serving with one ace.

“Our team played great in a really deep and talented tournament,” said coach Shawn White. “We capped off an outstanding year with a trophy.”
