Roosevelt John Chamber, 71, of Pendleton passed away on February 1, 2018, at St. Anthony Hospital.
He was born in Isola, Mississippi, on February 17, 1946, to Ruthie Owens and John Chambers. Roosevelt, along with his mother, moved to Pendleton in 1954, where he attended grade school, middle school and high school.
On Nov. 10, 1978, he married Wendy Bales of Joseph, Oregon. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. They had two children, Barlow and Porsha.
In 1988 Roosevelt and Wendy started their own trucking company, Chambers Trucking. He also worked part-time as a gas station attendant at Safeway in Pendleton for three years when he wasn’t working wheat harvest.
Roosevelt is survived by his wife Wendy Chambers; his three children Barlow Chambers of Portland, Ore., Porsha Schmick of Gresham, Ore., and Toy Chambers of Renton, Wash.; and his three wonderful grandchildren Hadley, Stormy and Sahara.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Pendleton Eagles Lodge, 428 S. Main St., Pendleton, Ore.
