On May 30, 2018, Brent Allen Fife passed away surrounded by his family after a near four-year battle with cancer. Brent was born on November 14, 1945, in Ontario, Ore., to Sandy and Esther Fife and is survived by his wife Fran Fife; his children Tucker Fife (Christiane) and Sarah Fife Sahl (Devin); his granddaughters Mia Fife, Layna Fife and Finley Sahl; and his siblings Darrylin Collinsworth, Dale Fife, Rod Fife and Terry Fife.
Brent grew up in Echo and graduated from Hermiston High School in 1963. He attended Eastern Oregon State University, BMCC and Portland State University, earning a BS in business in 1968. He was in the Army from 1969 to 1971, with one year of service in Vietnam. In 1973, he became a CPA and went on to become a partner at Fife Cockburn CPAs. He retired in 2010.
Brent was passionate about the Pendleton community and gave back in many ways during his lifetime. He held positions as a Happy Canyon director, president of the Pendleton Country Club, and member of the Umatilla Red Cross, United Way, St. Anthony Hospital Board, Peace Lutheran Church Council and Pendleton Foundation Trust.
Brent was most passionate about his family. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Fran Reeves. His wife, children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was the most loving husband, father and papa. Brent loved the outdoors and spending time at his cabin in Meacham. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends and developing elaborate ways to prank them. Brent had a keen sense of humor and the innate ability to disarm people with his jokes and one-liners. His love, warmth and humor will be the most greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Vert Auditorium, 480 S.W. Dorion Ave., on Saturday June 16 at 3:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of Brent’s life at Happy Canyon, 1114 S.W. Court Ave., on the Mezzanine Level (“Under the Grandstands” by Seymour Butts — that’s for you, Brent).
Donations can be made to the Pendleton Foundation Trust, P.O. Box 218 Pendleton, OR 97801 or Peace Lutheran Church, 210 N.W. Ninth St. Pendleton, OR 97801.
