Athena resident Jim Marquardt was recently appointed to a three-year position as the northeast director with the Oregon Hunter Education Instructors Association.
OHEIA works collaboratively with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to support hunter education instructors. The association’s goal is to maintain Oregon’s safe hunting traditions. They focus on teaching of safe, ethical and responsible hunting.
The board includes directors representing specific geographical areas of the state as well as a couple of at-large directors, two special project directors and a webmaster. President-elect Greg Barron of Irrigon will step up as president on May 1.
Marquardt’s next scheduled hunter education course is set for mid-June in Heppner. People can register for the class at any location where hunting or fishing licenses are sold or by visiting www.dfw.state.or.us/education/hunter.
