Tuesday’s hail storm took a driver by surprise, and dog owner failed in his doody duty

TUESDAY


1:06 a.m. - A pit bull dog at-large on Deer Run Court, Stanfield, became aggressive and snapped at a man.

8:39 a.m. - Milton-Freewater police received several reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts on the 200 block of North Columbia Street.

9:09 a.m. - Counterfeit money turned up in Morrow County. The Bank of Eastern Oregon, Boardman, reported a fake $100 bill was in a deposit from the Irrigon Shell station.

9:37 a.m. - A Pendleton resident asked to talk to an officer about a YouTube video showing possible child abuse.

9:41 a.m. - A caller reported finding three large bags of garbage on Sagebrush Road just off East Punkin Center Road, Hermiston.

12:10 p.m. - A Umatilla officer issued a warning for littering on the 200 block of Monroe Street.

12:54 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man running on Idaho Avenue with a gun in his hand. Turned out it was a drill.

1:45 p.m. - The East Oregonian, Pendleton, reported the theft of its paper box from the One Stop, 457 E. Main St., Athena.

1:43 p.m. - The sudden hail storm over the region contributed to a one-vehicle crash in southern Umatilla County.

Kenneth G. Cowger, 67, of Ukiah, was southbound on Highway 395 when the storm struck, according to Oregon State Police, and Cowger lost control of his Ford. The vehicle slid off the shoulder and rolled once.

Cowger suffered minor injuries, state police reported, and a private party took him to a hospital.

1:59 p.m. - The Heppner ambulance service responded to a report of a 1-year-old boy having seizures.

3:28 p.m. - A 9-1-1 caller in Pendleton reported a driver stopped at Southeast First Street and Court Avenue, got out with his dog, and let the dog defecate on the sidewalk, then took off.

8:43 p.m. - A Boardman man on Wilson Lane reported the theft of his older double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun from his home.

9:45 p.m. - A caller at the Pendleton Wal-Mart, 2203 S.W. Court Ave., reported a male doing inappropriate things on a laptop.


ARRESTS, CITATIONS


•The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeanette Marie Taylor, 50, of Hermiston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol).

•Oregon State Police arrested Jose Antonio Pena, 26, of Boardman, for unauthorized use of vehicle.
