Industrial hemp theft, meandering goats and Umatilla car crashes

MONDAY


7:57 a.m. - An upset caller reported someone dumped two bunches of leaves at the Irrigon Marina on North First Street and Northwest Washington Avenue. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy checked the area and would watch out for illegal dumping.

8:46 a.m. - Milton-Freewater police received a report of more gang graffiti, this time on the side of the building on the 300 block of North Columbia Street.

9:53 a.m. - A Milton-Freewater resident reported the theft of three pounds of industrial hemp from the 400 block of North Russell Street.

10:52 a.m. - As many as 20 goats meandered on the road in Boardman at Pioneer Lane and Mountain View Drive. A caller said they were heading toward Kunze Lane and wanted a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy to respond before traffic ran them over. The deputy found the owner was coming to move the goats.

12:40 p.m. - Pendleton police helped out a driver on Northwest Bailey Avenue who high-centered a vehicle on a retaining wall.

4:06 p.m. - A caller reported the theft of a vehicle from the One Stop Mart, 28810 Stafford Hansel Road, Hermiston

5:53 p.m. - Umatilla police responded to a car crash at Crossroads Truck Stop, 2020 Sixth St., and at 7:14 p.m. responded to another crash at the intersection of Highway 730 and Highway 395. No one was injured in either wreck.


ARRESTS, CITATIONS


•Hermiston police arrested Jose Damian Garcia, 19, of Umatilla, for misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, interfering with making a report to police, second-degree theft, unauthorized entry into a vehicle and harassment

•Milton-Freewater police at 10:40 p.m. arrested Nathaniel Franklin Lewis, 27, of 204 N. Water St., Weston, on a Pendleton Police Department probable cause affidavit for first-degree theft.
