Wolf sighting outside Ione, a man was worried about leaving his vacuum, and a crash on Highway 11 left three with minor injuries

7:52 a.m. - An Irrigon mother asked to talk to a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy about a male harassing her daughter. The mother said she got the male fired, and the harassment started after that.

9:27 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer received information about harassment at Irrigon High School, Irrigon.

10:01 a.m. - Several people have seen “a large black wolf” in the area of Carlson Lane and Ione Gooseberry Road, about 40 minutes drive south of Ione, a caller reported, and the most recent sighting was Tuesday. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office referred the report to Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

11:43 a.m. - The Umatilla County Courthouse, 416 S.E. Fourth St., Pendleton, reported “threat information.”

12:53 p.m. - Pilot Rock police responded to Southwest Birch Street for the possible theft of copper wire.

1:42 p.m. - A man reported he left a vacuum at the cardboard recycling bins on West Harper Road, Hermiston, and asked police if anyone “turned him in for leaving the vacuum.”

3:34 p.m. - A resident at Marina Apartments, Umatilla, told police she just caught her neighbors going through her mail.

8:11 p.m. - A resident on Montana Lane, Irrigon, called 911 to report an intoxicated male was pounding on her door.

8:35 p.m. - Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash north of Milton-Freewater.

Oregon State Police responded to the wreck on the northbound side of Highway 11 near milepost 33, and found a Volkswagen Passat and a Ford F150 pickup each sustained more than $1,500 in damage. The three occupants had minor injuries, according to state police, and all refused ambulance rides to hospitals.

The trooper found “conflicting statements regarding what occurred” and cited one driver for driving while suspended and driving uninsured, but the crash investigation continues.

9:27 p.m. - Umatilla police received a report of a drunk driver who tried to buy beer at Pik A Pop, the convenience store at 1010 Sixth St. Employees refused to sell him the beer, and the man “took off heading eastbound.”



•Milton-Freewater police arrested Francisco Torres Velazquez, 40, no address provided, for driving under the influence of intoxicants.


•Pendleton police arrested James Michael Hutchins Jr., 39, of 821 N.W. Eighth St., Pendleton, for a probation violation and felony possession of methamphetamine.

•Hermiston police arrested Julian Madrigal Mendoza, 38, of 405 S.W. 11th St., Apt. 53, Hermiston, for felony possession of methamphetamine and on warrants for failure to appear.
