Folks may be living in a pickup, and Christmas package thefts ticked up in Hermiston

WEDNESDAY


12:53 a.m. - Hermiston police responded to a burglary on the 200 block of Southeast Fourth Street.

4:59 a.m. - A caller on East Main Street, Hermiston, reported the theft of her vehicle.

8:40 a.m. - A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy received a text message about people fighting at the Irrigon Shell station. Deputies found this was an argument, and the deputy who received the text told the sender to call the sheriff’s office directly for these types of incidents.

8:49 a.m. - A mother on Southeast Fourth Street, Hermiston, told police her daughter’s boyfriend was refusing to get out of her car.

8:57 a.m. - One of the Lewis Spring Neighborhood Watch members on Highway 339, Milton-Freewater, reported the theft of some of her Christmas decorations.

9:31 a.m. - A caller told Milton-Freewater police someone was going through trash cans and “making a big mess” on the 700 block of South Main Street.

10:44 a.m. - Hermiston police took a report for fraud. A town resident said she advertised puppies for sale on Craigslist.com for $600, and a would-be buyer sent her a check that turned out to be fraudulent.

11:35 a.m. - A resident on East View Drive, Hermiston, told police she wanted to drop off a cat she caught because it was trying to get up in her car.

12:33 p.m. - The Morrow County school resource officer looked into a case of harassment at the school in Ione.

12:37 p.m. - A Pilot Rock resident called 911 to report his uncle physically threw him out of the house.

1:07 p.m. - Pendleton police took a report for a break-in at a residence at Vista Village Mobile Home Park, 2801 S.W. Houtama Road, and the theft of a child’s video game system.

1:22 p.m. - An Irrigon resident reported someone she has never met has been sending her harassing and threatening messages since the beginning of December. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy told her to block anyone sending unwanted messages.

2:03p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a male carrying packages through the neighborhood on Yucca Avenue. A second report came in 20 minutes later from nearby Northwest Dawn Drive of a male that was on a front porch with packages in his hand, but the packages belonged to the person making the report.

3:54 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a request to check on people who may be living in a pickup that has a flat tire at Columbia Lane and West Fourth Road, Irrigon.

3:58 p.m. - A resident on East Punkin Center Road, Hermiston, reported mail theft.

4:36 p.m. - Another Hermiston caller reported theft of packages, this time from a front porch on the 1000 block of West Juanita Avenue. And this caller said he saw the person take the items off the porch.

7:36 p.m. - Pendleton fire responded to Vista Village Mobile Home Park, 2801 S.W. Houtama Road, on a report of a chimney dropping hot coals onto the roof.

9:25 p.m. - A caller told Pendleton police she and her friends were going to hand out blankets to people who need them at the Rudy Rada Skate Park and heading east along the Pendleton River Park Way.

10:23 p.m. - Law enforcement responded to a 911 call about domestic violence on Craig Road, Hermiston.


ARRESTS, CITATIONS


•Hermiston police arrested Joseph Clarence Day, 44, of Hermiston, for felony possession of methamphetamine and on warrants for violating probation and failing to appear.

•Oregon State Police arrested Omar Ulloa Martinez, 29, of 2837 S.E. 160th Ave., Portland, for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

•Pendleton police arrested Donald Lake, 56, of Pendleton, for DUII.
