Vehicle thefts were on the rise, and arrests included suspects from Texas and Montana

4:10 a.m. - A caller at Mountain View Apartments, 2410 N,W. Carden Ave., reported a female knocked on the door, asked to use the phone and attacked when the occupant refused.

10:17 a.m. - Pendleton police responded to Til Taylor Park, 700 S.E. Dorion Ave., for a male causing a disturbance.

11:20 a.m. - A Hermiston resident on the 1200 block of West Highland Avenue asked to speak to an officer about someone taking three bags of garbage out of the dumpster after she told him not to.

2:02 p.m. - Umatilla police received a report of a possible vehicle theft at Horseshoe Apartments on Sixth Street, Umatilla.

6:39 p.m. - Hermiston police took a report for a burglary on the 300 block of Northwest Ninth Street.


8:55 a.m. - Pendleton police took reports of graphic graffiti on property at Northwest Bailey Avenue and Sixth Street.

11:23 a.m. - The holidays may be over, but package thefts are not. A Milton-Freewater caller reported the theft of a package from the 600 block of Evans Street.

1:07 p.m. - An Irrigon man on Southeast 10th Street reported the theft of a quilt, all the silverware and more from his motor home.

5:09 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report for a vehicle theft at Birch Creek and Government Mountain roads, Milton-Freewater.

9:36 p.m. - A caller reported she was at the Irrigon skate park and had an argument with her boyfriend, who jumped out when the car was moving.


12:25 a.m. - A caller on South Main Street, Stanfield, reported a burglary.

1:36 a.m. - Law enforcement in Morrow County responded to a Boardman address for a person suffering a mental crisis.

2:13 a.m. - A 911 caller reported a vehicle theft at Southwest 11th Street and West Highland Avenue, Hermiston.

2:21 a.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a fight involving eight people on East Main Street.

3:44 p.m. - A Milton-Freewater resident reported theft from a home on the 100 block of Northwest 10th Avenue.



•Oregon State Police arrested Hailey Dawn Carlson, 21, of Pendleton, for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

•The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office at 3:17 p.m. responded to the 78000 block of Parkside Road, Boardman on a report of a male beating and choking a female. Deputies arrested Marvin Alex Pourier, 53, for fourth-degree assault and on a warrant for failure to pay fines.

•Pendleton police arrested Donald Wesley Bryant, 51, of 3006 N. Alder St., La Grande, for first-degree theft. State court records show Bryant pleaded guilty Friday to reckless burning and second-degree trespass for causing a fire Dec. 31, 2017, that damaged property at Pendleton’s Jack in the Box, 1904 S.W. Court Ave. And he has a warrant out of Marion County for assaulting a corrections officer and aggravated harassment for spitting at another staff member.

•Hermiston police arrested Julie Ann Arterburn, 58, of Hermiston, for felony attempt to flee.

•Oregon State Police arrested Stephen Brad Scarbro, 37, of New Braufels, Texas, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. State police reported the arrest came after a trooper stopped Scarbro for driving a red Dodge Dakota 111 mph eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 160.


•Oregon State Police arrested Orlando Cruz Lopez, 33, of Hermiston, for felony DUII. State police reported Lopez had a blood-alcohol level of .13 percent, above the .08 percent legal limit.


•The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Leanne Marie Olsen, 40, of Hermiston, for misdemeanor failure to report as sex offender. State court records show this is at least the fifth time she failed to register following her conviction in 2004 for the misdemeanor charge of third-degree sexual abuse.

•Hermiston police arrested Hope Marie Morasch, 26, of 930 W. Eskimo Ave., Hermiston, for unauthorized use of vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, felony attempt to flee and misdemeanor reckless driving.
