School fights in Morrow County, a run-in with a bad ‘high schooler’ and an Athena woman had trouble from a locked door

12:38 a.m. - Hermiston police took a report for a burglary on the 200 block of East Dogwood Avenue.

6:04 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of domestic violence at a home on West Highway 730, Irrigon.

8:15 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a fight at the Irrigon Elementary School, Irrigon.

9:55 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary on Hoosier Road, Stanfield.

12:19 p.m. - Cows at Kunze Lane and Toms Camp Road, Boardman, drew a complaint. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy checked it out and found the cows in pastures but not on the road.

3:41 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to another school fight, this time at the Irrigon Junior-Senior High School, Irrigon. The case is under investigation.

4:23 p.m. - A woman in Heppner reported a “high schooler” in a tan Jeep Cherokee tried to run her off the road, and when she saw him at the Shell station he threatened to shoot her if she flipped him off again.

4:33 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a drunk driver at Kelly’s Restaurant & Lounge, Milton-Freewater.

6:29 p.m. - A caller reported the Heppner High School boys basketball team drives too fast on Northwest Morgan Street, Heppner, each night after practice.

7:35 p.m. - An Athena woman reported she paid $60 to a man who helped her get into her house. She said he had to break the door lock to get in, and he was supposed to return and repair the lock but has not. She said she wanted to speak to a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy.

10:34 p.m. - A 911 caller said a male chased him from his work at the One Stop Mart, 1295 N.W. 11th St., Hermiston, to his home.

11:02 p.m. - Umatilla police issued a truancy citation on Second Street.


•Pendleton police arrested Derek Alvin Anderson, 35, of 704 S.E. Goodwin Ave., Pendleton, for first-degree theft. Umatilla County Circuit Court records show the state accused Anderson of stealing a man’s TV and other property.

•Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Layton Gene Winebarger, 19, of 161 N.E. 15th St., Unit C, Hermiston, for driving under the influence of intoxicants (controlled substance).
