A man facing a reckless driving case now has a charge for assaulting police, and Hermiston officers arrest a pair for vehicle theft

9:12 a.m. - An Irrigon man on Southwest Third Street returned six goats to their rightful owner. The man’s wife told the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office the goats escape daily and asked what to do about them other than shooting them.

9:56 a.m. - Milton-Freewater police took a report for gang graffiti on the 300 block of South Main Street.

9:59 a.m. - Pendleton police received a report of a vehicle theft on Southwest Eighth Street.

1:12 p.m. - A customer at the Umatilla branch of Banner Bank asked to speak to an officer about fraudulent activity on his bank account.

1:39 p.m. - A Heppner caller on Linden Way/Highway 74 reported three people walking on the highway. One was white, had a beard and walked with a pit bull dog. One was Hispanic with a “man bun,” and the other was Hispanic with a red bandanna. The caller said he thought the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office should check them out because hitchhiking is against the law.

The sheriff’s office did not find the trio.

5:32 p.m. - A visitor at the Hat Rock Campground, 82284 Hat Rock Road, Hermiston, reported he went to the campground store and another man argued with him.

5:57 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received another complaint about harassment at the Hat Rock Campground.

6:03 p.m. - Umatilla police received a complaint about three dogs running around The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15 Grant St.

6:10 p.m. - Two males fought at Stillman Park, 413 S.E. Byers Ave., Pendleton.

6:19 p.m. - A Pendleton resident reported a man threatened him via Facebook.

6:23 p.m. - Two Honda Civics raced at more than 90 mph on Tum A Lum Road at Mauer Lane, Milton-Freewater.

10:55 p.m. - A Pendleton resident on Northeast Obrien Place reported a man was violating a restraining order.

11:59 p.m. - A 911 caller in Pendleton reported someone jumped out of a moving car at Southwest Perkins Avenue and Southgate.


•Pendleton police arrested Daniel Dewey Ocacio, 33, of Pendleton, for assaulting a public safety officer.

This is Ocacio’s second arrest inside of two weeks. Police arrested him Saturday, Aug. 11, in connection with a vehicle that was on fire on Interstate 84 at milepost 210, Pendleton. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of hit and run for property damage, reckless driving and reckless endangering in that case. According to court documents. The Umatilla County Jail released him Aug. 17 due to overcrowding.

•Pendleton police arrested Raeanna Charlotte Breeding, 38, of Pilot Rock, for felony possession of methamphetamine.

•Hermiston police arrested two suspects connected to a stolen U-Haul.

Cpl. Riley Studebaker at 11:43 p.m. was conducting routine patrol through the parking lot at Walmart, 1350 N. First Place, Hermiston police reported, when he spotted a U-Haul vehicle with the cargo door open and someone sleeping in the cab.

He asked the county dispatch to check the vehicle’s records. Turned out, La Grande police took a report for theft of the vehicle on July 11.

Studebaker found La Grande transient Poppy Rose Grover, 39, sleeping in the cab.

While Studebaker detained her, officer Will Jons arrived and found Kyle Andrew Waldron, 33, also a transient from La Grande. Police arrested Grover for unauthorized use of a vehicle and Waldron for possession of a stolen vehicle, and booked them into the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton.
