Teen driver drew a complaint, a medical emergency contributed to a car crash, and some odors are just too good to pass up

WEDNESDAY


12:40 a.m. - A 911 caller at Tri-Harbor Apartments, 210 Klickitat St., Umatilla, reported someone threw rocks at cars.

8:11 a.m. - A teen driver in a silver-tannish Toyota Corolla sped through stops signs at A.C. Houghton Elementary School, 1105 N. Main Ave., Irrigon. The teen almost crashed into another driver, and staff at the school yelled for him to slow down.

8:51 a.m. - Staff at McNary Heights Elementary School, 120 Columbia Blvd., Umatilla, asked law enforcement to pick up a friendly pit bull dog at the front of the school.

10:18 a.m. - A Milton-Freewater man told police someone entered his car on the 10 block of North Columbia Street and stole the stereo and his cologne.

2:33 p.m. - A 60-year-old Athena woman crashed her SUV near Stanfield.

Oregon State Police reported she was heading west on Interstate 84 at a high speed and took exit 188 but could not navigate the curve on the off-ramp. The car plowed through a roadside sign, two fences and collided with the guardrail on the northbound shoulder of Highway 395.

State police reported the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, and an ambulance took her to a lo cal hospital for treatment.

3:06 p.m. - A Stanfield caller on North Earl Street complained to police about an issue he had with a man and lawn care, which affected the house insurance.

4 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a report of vandalism and damage to the new restrooms at the city park in Heppner. The case is under investigation.

4:44 p.m. - A caller reported he was the victim of an assault at the Hermiston Safeway, 990 S. Highway 395, but declined medics.

6:18 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a possible drunk driver at North Ott Road and Diagonal Boulevard, Hermiston. Law enforcement did not find the driver.

7:06 p.m. - A caller reported a possible drunk driver at Stanfield Meadows and Echo Meadows roads, Stanfield. The driver was a white male with scruffy hair and drank a beer while behind the wheel. The caller also wanted to remain anonymous.


ARRESTS, CITATIONS


•Hermiston police arrested Michael Osvaldo Cervantes, 24, of Hermiston, for second-degree theft, credit card fraud, felony methamphetamine possession and on a warrant.

•Milton-Freewater police arrested Joel Thomas Hines, 25, no fixed address, on a warrant and for felony possession of methamphetamine.
