In celebration of the recent National Fitness Day, several residents and staff of McKay Creek Estates decided to get their blood pumping.

The group went for a short walking trip a few blocks from the facility, said executive director Noemi Wiseman. Staff at the Pendleton assisted living facility were encouraged to wear their favorite fitness outfit to celebrate with the residents.

There were couple of residents that joined the short trip via wheelchair, Wiseman said. One of them was Thelma Lindner, who expressed her appreciation for the outing.

“This is really fun, I loved it,” Lindner said.

Wiseman said as the weather permits, taking routine walks will be included as part of scheduled activities. In addition, Wiseman invites the community to join staff and residents as they celebrate healthy lifestyles.
