Pendleton resident Robert Koch recently received the Milestone Chevron Award from Lions Club International, celebrating 50 years of service as a Lions Club member.

Koch originally joined the Lions Club in Grants Pass in 1967. After moving to Pendleton, Koch worked as a police officer, and later for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission for about 25 years, retiring in 1987.

Daughter Chris Dietz said Koch is thrilled about the award.

Founded in 1917, Lions Club International now has 46,000 clubs with more than 1.4 million members. The club works to help make communities better places and to help those in need. For more information, visit www.lionsclubs.org.
