Oregon Retired Educators Association Unit 9 (OREA-9) recently awarded grants to teachers in the Pendleton School District.

The organization has awarded teacher grants for several years to help provide additional education opportunities and resources for students in the district. Marge Normington-Jones, OREA-9 president, said the group knows that by helping teachers, they also have a positive impact on students. The money is used to buy needed supplies, go on field trips or attend conferences.

This year’s grant recipients include Julie Murphy, Ken Jacobs, Gita Webster, Cindy Schimel, Emilee Oja, Shelle Hand Bixler, Glenn Johnston, Jenny Coreym, Cydney Curtis and Michelle Sickels.

OREA is open to all who are interested in making a positive impact on students. For more information, contact Normington-Jones at knitting@charter.net.
