"Anchorman" was a real disappointment. Even grandson Tony agreed.
It's rated PG-13 but is a little bit raw for that rating. This movie stars Will Ferrell (great in The Elf), Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Kevin Corrigan and Chuck D, whoever that is.
"Anchorman" centers on the life of TV anchorman Ron Burgundy, played by Ferrell. Applegate is the girlfriend who later takes over Ron's prize position of anchorman. Ron is the center of a group of misfit reporters at a TV station in the '70s.
It was a great spoof on the '70s. I loved the clothes -leisure suits, wide/short ties, white shoes and belts and hair-dos and musk cologne- but I couldn't find anything to laugh about. I kept thinking it would get better but it never did.
Ron's dog, Buster, was probably the highlight of the movie. The movie is relatively short but seems to go on forever. This is a bad sign. I would suggest you wait until it comes out on video in the $4.67 bin.
