HERMISTON - Book Club Discussion kits will be purchased with grant money received from the Umatilla County Cultural Coalition. The Hermiston Public Library recently received the $900 grant.

Since 2006, the library has operated Book Minders, a monthly book club program open to the public. The library purchases 10 copies of a selected title in paperback and lends them to club members, who read and return them at the next meeting.

"This is an important and very popular program at the library," said library director Marie Baldo. "Library sponsored and privately organized discussion groups in interested communities help to fill the divide between rural and urban area when dealing with all aspects of the humanities."

The grant will enable the library to add 12 additional kits to its current collection. For more information, contact Baldo at 541-567-2882 or library@hermiston.or.us.
