HERMISTON CEMETERY FLAG ROW MEMORIAL, dawn to dusk, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4750 erected more than 500 flags honoring the memory of local veterans at the cemetery located at the south end of Hermiston, just off Highway 395.

AMERICAN LEGION POST NO. 130 COMMUNITY BREAKFAST, 7-11 a.m. at the Post on Main Street, Athena. The free breakfast is to observe Memorial Day and thank the community for its support.

FRIENDS OF THE IRRIGON LIBRARY ANNUAL GARAGE SALE, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the parking lot at A.C. Houghton Elementary School, 1105 N. Main Ave. All proceeds go to the new Irrigon Library fund.

WILDFIRE CABARET, 7-11 p.m. at Wildhorse Resort & Casino. No cover charge. This weekend's entertainment is Steel Breeze, a classic hits band.

CHARLIE WALKER IN CONCERT, 10 a.m. at the Faith Center Church, 108 S. Main St., Pendleton. The concert is free. Walker performs country gospel music. He previously founded and performed with the group Countryfied.

MEMORIAL DAY IN PENDLETON, 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in front of Bishop's Funeral Home on Southeast Byers and 11 a.m. at Olney Cemetery's Avenue of Flags. Both ceremonies are sponsored by the Pendleton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 922.

MEMORIAL DAY IN HERMISTON, 10 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery, located at the south end of Hermiston, just off Highway 395. The event will include speakers and the playing of "Taps." Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4750.

"EYES WIDE OPEN," 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Roy Raley Park, Pendleton. A Memorial Day exhibit honoring Oregon's dead and wounded and exposing the costs of war. Displays include boot and shoes representing soldiers and civilian deaths in Iraq, information easels, voter registration cards and petitions.
