College students at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution will continue their education thanks to a $3,000 U.S. Bancorp Foundation award to New Directions Education Project. The local non-profit organization will use the money to pay for tuition and textbooks for 15 students during the 2009 spring term. A Blue Mountain Community College instructor will teach the class.

U.S. Bank, District Manager Shawna Robinson and Branch Manager Kathie Nooy gave the check to the New Directions board at its December meeting.
