During the month of January, the American Red Cross celebrates the contributions of blood donors in Oregon. Blood supplies fall to their lowest levels during the month of January and with the designation as National Blood Donor Month, the Red Cross hopes to increase awareness about the importance of giving blood.

A blood drive will be held Monday from 1-6 p.m. at Good Shepherd Medical Center, 610 N.W. 11th St., Hermiston.

Any healthy adult — or those 16-18 with parental consent — who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood. Valid identification is required for all blood donations. Donors can give blood every 56 days, or up to six times a year.

To schedule an appointment, call 800-733-2767 or go to redcrossblood.org.
