HEPPNER - A Wee Bit O' Ireland weekend celebration comes to Heppner, the self-proclaimed Irish Capital of Oregon, March 13 -16. This is the 21st year for the Heppner St. Patrick's Day celebration.

Heppner is where many Irish immigrants settled, in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. It is located on highways 74 and 207, less than an hour south of Highway 84, about one hour from Arlington, Hermiston, Pendleton, Ukiah, Spray, or Condon.

Thursday

Dessert Theater, 7 p.m., Parish Hall stage, 560 N.W. Jones. Members of St. Patrick Church will stage two productions, "Saint Patrick, Apostle of Ireland" and "Saint Brigid, Patroness of Ireland" written by Rev. Gerry Condon.

Friday, March 14

Heppner Public Library Open, 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Morrow County Museum Open, 1-5 p.m.

Vendor's Square, All day. Neighborhood Center on Main St. Crafts, food and treasures from local and visiting vendors.

Fountain Dedication, 4 p.m., Corner of Main and Willow Streets. Heppner town fountain will be dedicated to the Irish families who settled Morrow County.

Mrs. O'Leary's Stew Feed, 5-7 p.m., St. Patrick Senior Center, 190 N. Main. Prepared by Heppner United Methodist Church members.

Buffet Dinner, 6-8 p.m., The Elks, 142 N. Main St.

St. Patrick's Annual Auction, 7 p.m., The Elks, 142 N. Main St. Live and silent auction with a grand variety of small items and extravagant packages.

$100 Pot o' Gold, Leprechauns will make the first of many appearances, and the first drawing during the auction. (Three drawings for $100 each take place during the weekend events.) The unique celebration buttons, designed by a local artist and sold at the information booth, will be numbered. Three of the button's numbers will be worth $100 each.

Saturday, March 15

O'Senior Center Breakfast, 6-10 a.m., St. Patrick Senior Center, 190 N. Main.

Sheep Dog Trials, 8:30 a.m. and running all day, Thompson's Ranch, 3 miles northwest of Heppner on Bunker Hill Road between mile post 41 and 42.

St. Paddy's Motocross, sign-up 8-9 a.m., races from 9 a.m.-noon, and 2 p.m. until finished, at the fair grounds.

Morrow County Creative Arts and Crafts Show, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Les Schwab on Main St.

Vendor's Square, All day. Neighborhood Center on Main St. Crafts, food and treasures from local and visiting vendors.

St. Paddy's Cruz-in, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Willow Street. Antique and classic cars on display.

Irish Hoop Shoot, 10 a.m., Bank of Eastern Oregon drive way.

KUMA Coffee Hour radio show, 10 a.m., at the Elks, 142 N. Main St. Irish music, stories, comedy, dance, and the Brogue Contest. $100 Pot o' Gold, drawing.

Ewe-Do Bingo, 2:30 p.m., Live sheep activity on the corner of Main and Center Streets.

Tours, 2-6 p.m., the Morrow County Courthouse, built of blue basalt rock in 1903, will offer tours. A shuttle bus will run throughout the day.

O'Ducky Race, 3 p.m., the bridge in front of the Courthouse. Adopt a duck for a chance to win $10-$100.

St. Patrick's Ham Dinner, 4-7 p.m., St. Patrick's Catholic parish hall, 560 N.W. Jones St.

Buffet Dinner, 6-8 p.m., the Elks, 142 N. Main St. Corn beef and cabbage and the trimmings. Music from 9 p.m.-2 a.m.

Tiller's Folly Concert, 7 p.m., Heppner High School auditorium. This acoustic band/quartet brings its Celtic sounds to Heppner. $10 for adults, $5 for 10 years and younger. $100 Pot o' Gold, drawing.

Lads and Lassies Teen Dance, 9 p.m.-midnight, Heppner High School cafeteria. Dan Burns will DJ the drug and alcohol free dance.

Sunday, March 16
