HERMISTON - The Kiwanis Noon Club of Hermiston and Builders Club of Sandstone Middle School recently collected an estimated $2,500 in toys, books, videos and games to donate to the Domestic Violence Center in Hermiston.

Members of both clubs spent several weeks collecting the donated items to be used by children at the Casa de Esperonza, House of Hope. Sandstone Builders Club placed a large collection box in the school. Members of the club and other students provided a variety of items.

On Nov. 22, Kiwanis Club and Builders Club members met at the shelter to present the items. Many items will be used as Christmas gifts for children living at the shelter over the holidays.

The Hermiston Kiwanis Noon Club has been an active service organization for more than 50 years in the Hermiston area. They have provided support to many youth groups. The Noon Club meets at noon Wednesdays at Umatilla Electric Cooperative, 750 W. Elm Ave.
