How to use Your EO News

Your EO News, published Saturdays, has become a hit with readers from throughout our area. It's also become a hit with reporters - because now we don't have to say "no" to anyone calling with a story they'd like to appear in the paper.

What can run on Your EO News? Basically anything that doesn't promote a business. Over the past months, we've had submitted stories on classroom projects, Cub Scout events, pageants, clubs and organizations activities, and pets that win awards.

The name is an indicator of what items we want to publish. We want what's important to you. If you have guests visiting from out of town, pass it on. If you worked like crazy decorating your house for Halloween, spread the word. If it's interesting to you, it will be for our readers.

Basically, if you send it to us, we'll spruce it up and put it in print.

It's pretty easy to submit. There are three ways to do it:

1. Go to www.eastoregonian.com. Scroll down the page, looking for the old fashioned mail box on the left hand side. Click on that, and it'll take you to our submission forms. Your EO News submission forms, along with all sorts of other items you can submit are on that page. Just click on it, fill it out and submit your photo.

2. E-mail your photos and information directly to tmurry@eastoregonian.com. Be sure and put the names of the people, from left to right, in the photo and include a phone number in case we have last-minute questions.

3. Either mail the written information and photos to Terry Murry, EO, P.O. Box 1089, Pendleton, OR, 97801, or drop it by either the Pendleton or Hermiston offices marked for Terry Murry.

It's also fine to fax the written information to 276-8314. However, faxed photos don't work. The quality isn't good enough.

Don't worry, we're not asking you to write the story for us - we just want the facts. We'll fix any spelling or grammatical errors. Make sure, though, that the names you're submitting are spelled right. I've charted, for example, about 12 ways people spell the name Lyndsay. If you're not sure - ask.

After all, it is your EO news.
