Marching band cruises with test drives

Hermiston High School marching band students benefitted from a Drive One 4 UR School event in Hermiston.

Members of the local community helped raise $7,200 for the Hermiston High School marching band. The Drive One 4 UR School program resulted in a partnership between the school, Ford Motor Company and Tom Denchel Ford Country as money was donated for test drives Sept. 25.

Approximately 420 people headed to the school for test drives. For each participant who came from a unique household, Ford and Tom Denchel Ford Country donated $20 for the first 300 drives for a total of $6,000, the maximum amount raised through the program. In addition, Tom Denchel contributed an another $10 for each of the additional 120 drives, for a grand total of $7,200.

Since the program’s start in 2007, Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program has raised more than $3.3 million for close to 1,000 high schools across the country.

Money raised during the Hermiston event will be used to purchase new marching band uniforms and equipment at Hermiston High School.
