HERMISTON - The Pavlo Trio will electrify audiences with their unique combination of Mediterranean music that combines influences of flamenco, Latin, classical guitar mixed with the Greek bouzouki.

Pavlo is a composer, a musician, a guitarist and a recording artist. He composes in a style best described as "Mediterranean music."

"It was a natural progression to compose music that combined my childhood studies of Flamenco/Latin Guitar with my love for Greek music and European music in general," Pavlo said.

Pavlo has two albums, the first, self-titled Pavlo and the second, "Fantasia." Combined sales were in excess of 150,000 CDs. "Fantasia" was nominated for "Best Instrumental Album of the Year" at the 2000 Juno Awards in Canada (Canada's equivalent to the Grammy Awards).

In 2001, Pavlo was selected to perform for His Royal Highness Prince Charles.

Pavlo wrote music that was included in two episodes of The Chris Isaak Show in the United States. His third CD, "I Feel Love Again" was released earlier this month. The title track of his latest album, "I Feel Love Again" features Pavlo's first tune accompanied by lyrics and will be released as his first single ever. Pavlo is singing as well as playing on "I Feel Love Again."

"For the first time I wrote a piece of music that was suddenly accompanied by lyrics," Pavlo said." I am not one to deny the flow of creation, so I went with it. Not realizing I had a singing voice, I went into the studio and sang my heart out. The result: 'I Feel Love Again.'"

Pavlo will be appearing with two other musicians for a high-energy performance.

The Pavlo concert is the season kick-off for the 2004-2005 Desert Arts Council (DAC) season. Membership is still available for the DAC season, for more information, call the Hermiston Chamber at 567-6151.

The concert is presented by DAC and sponsored by Potlatch, Cottage Flowers, Chuck and Robin Barnes, Apollo and Hermiston Generating Plant.
