A 60th anniversary celebration for Milt and Laura (Peterson) Casper was held Nov. 3, 2011, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Laughlin, Nev., with friends and neighbors. The couple already has plans on the drawing board for their 70th anniversary.
Milt and Laura both attended Hermiston schools, graduating May 27, 1948. They were married Nov. 3, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermiston. A reception was held in the ARC building, with 200 attendees. After the ceremonies, the couple toured Canada for three days.
Milt served two enlistments in the Army, with the artillery in Okinawa from 1948-50 and with the Army Engineers in Korea from 1950-51. He received honorable discharges for both enlistments. He then worked for the Department of Defense in Hermiston (for the Umatilla Army Depot), Chambersburg, Pa., Anniston, Ala., Pueblo, Colo., and Southeast Asia. After retirement he worked as a real estate developer, a career from which he has also retired.
Laura also had two careers: banking and real estate management. She is retired as well.
The Caspers have called Hermiston home for 40 years. They now split their time between homes in Hermiston and Lake Havasu City.
Their children are Bernie (deceased), and David and Joan in Tacoma, Wash.
