Wes and Dorothy Sackmann will celebrate 60 years of wedded bliss Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at a 9 a.m. service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermiston. A reception will follow at 10:15 at the church parish hall. They request no gifts or cards.
The Sackmanns were married Aug. 28, 1854, in Waterloo, Iowa. They live in North Bend, Wash., before moving to Hermiston 30 years ago. Wes served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church from 1984 to 1996.
The couple now enjoys retirement, including playing with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wes also does supply preaching when needed.
The Sackmanns have three children: Paul (Peggy) Sackmann of Tacoma, Wash., Steve (Lynn) Sackmann of Philomath and Mary (Terry) Sackmann of Snoqualmie, Wash. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
