Desert Arts Council is getting ready to showcase area artists during the 2013 Hermiston ArtWalk.
Organizers are seeking artists and vendors interested in participating in the spring event, which has expanded over the past few years to include music, vendors, dance and art activities.
Mary Corp of the Desert Arts Council said artists and vendors will be accepted as room is available, but in order to be included in pre-event publicity, they need to register by Wednesday, April 10.
Artists will find participating in this growing event an exciting way to share and sell their art to the many visitors who come to enjoy all the activities of the ArtWalk, Corp said.
ArtWalks focus, she said, is to provide artists with a high-quality event to show off their creations to an interested and engaged audience.
The opening artist reception is Friday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. at The Pheasant Lounge & Cafe, 149 E. Main St. It will include live music, food and wine tasting and a preview of artwork. The ArtWalk is Saturday, May 4 in the 100-200 blocks of Main Street in Hermiston.
Artists have the option of being hosted indoors by local business partners, or outdoors in their own booth space on the street.
Open to professional artists 18 and older, the event accepts artists from throughout the region. Those who haven't previously exhibited in the ArtWalk need to provide examples of artwork to be juried into the event. There is a $25 registration fee for artists, who will compete for cash prizes of $1,200.
Local qualifying nonprofit organizations are invited to participate as concession vendors. Individuals and commercial businesses operations for profit are not eligible to participate as vendors.
The ArtWalk also will host childrens and student art exhibits. Call Cathy Wamsley at 541-564-6878 for information about the childrens art show and for the student show, contact Jack Jensen at email@example.com.
