PENDLETON — The sales of novel “The?Christmas Cowboy” will benefit the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, which provides assistance for professional rodeo athletes who have been seriously injured and are unable to compete.

The contemporary western romance is set in the Tri-Cities. It’s the story of Tate Morgan, a saddle bronc rider, and Kenzie Beckett, a corporate trainer for a direct sales company. Both frequent travelers, they meet by chance at the airport.

The book’s author, Shanna Hatfield, will appear at a book-signing event Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hamley & Co., 30 S.E. Court Ave., Pendleton.
