UMATILLA — For some frigid fun while helping keep children out of the cold, make plans to participate in the Coats for Kids Polar Bear Plunge. Entry into the event is by purchasing or donating a new winter coat for a needy youth. Buy one via www.yougivegoods.com/coatsforkids2022 or on your own and drop it off at Umatilla Head Start, 1371 Third St., Umatilla.

The Polar Bear Plunge is Saturday, Jan. 8, noon to 2 p.m. at the Umatilla Marina Swim Beach, 1710 Quincy Ave. The event will include food, games and giveaways.

If your family is in need of a winter coat, contact Rita Campos at 541-969-3338 or rcampos@umchs.org. For questions about the event, call Hannah Keister, the city of Umatilla’s community development coordinator, at 541-922-3226.
