PENDLETON — A pair of La Grande authors are featured during the January First Draft Writers’ Series.
David Memmott and David Axelrod live in the same community, but the similarity between the two authors ends there. Memmott has published four books and two chapbooks of poetry. He is the editor and publisher of Wordcraft of Oregon, an alternative literary small press that offers authors an alternative to commercial publishing houses. Axelrod is a professor of English and writing at Eastern Oregon University, where he serves as the co-director of the Low Residency Masters in Fine Art program. He is the author of six collections of poems as well as numerous essays.
The two authors will read from their works Thursday at 7 p.m. at Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St., Pendleton. The program is free and open to the public.
After their presentations, an open mic offers members of the audience time to share briefly from their own original works.
