HEPPNER — The Heppner Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a host of holiday happenings. The main event will take place Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Morrow County Fairgrounds — immediately after the Parade of Lights, which begins at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street in Heppner.

The Heppner Christmas Event will include a holiday meal and activities at the fairgrounds, 74473 Highway 74, Heppner. Exchange students and their host families will be introduced, followed by a spaghetti dinner, raffles, reward card drawings and more. The dinner costs $5 per person ($3 for children under 5). A no-host bar also will be available.

“Reward Cards” are available through Dec. 15 at Heppner merchants — encouraging the community to shop locally. A special Merchants Holiday Open House with extended hours is planned for Thursday. In addition, the tree by the post office will be illuminated with lights and homemade ornaments from Heppner Day Care and Heppner Elementary School students at 5:30 p.m. Carolers will sing Christmas songs and there will be hot chocolate, cookies and dessert for sale.

The Change for Charity Drive continues through Dec. 15. Community Bank will match 50 cents on every dollar collected (up to $5,000) and the donations made at the Heppner branch will support the Heppner Neighborhood Center. Also, Community Bank will donate an extra $1,000 to charities in the region where the most donations are collected.

The “Christmas Is” Community Concert is planned for Sunday, with performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 175 W. Church St., Heppner. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Call 541-676-9224 for information.
