COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A documentary based on Oregon writer Gregory Nokes’ book about the 1887 slaughter of Chinese gold miners in Hells Canyon will make its world debut. “Massacred for Gold,” a film by Vernon Lott and Jennifer Anderson of Lewiston, Idaho, will be shown Nov. 13 at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival in Denmark.

The film chronicles the story of the deaths of nearly three dozen Chinese, which Nokes wrote about in his 2009 book, “Massacred for Gold: The Chinese in Hells Canyon.”

The film was shot in Joseph, Lewiston and Hells Canyon and features narration by actor Robert Longstreet and the musical score by Tim Hecker.
