Hermiston Christian Women's Club to meet

HERMISTON - The next luncheon meeting of the Hermiston Christian Women's Club will be at 11:30 a.m., May 15. The meeting is in a new location, at Panda Inn, 675 N. First St. (Highway 395).

The topic is "Million Dollar Ideas" featuring unique money gifts by Jeanie Echols. The guest speaker will be Faye Pruitt of Newberg, and special music will be provided by David Snyder.

The $8 admission includes lunch and fellowship. A nursery is provided at Hermiston Methodist Church. Reservations are needed and can be made by contacting C.J. at 567-3651.

EOU serves up pizza, information

LA GRANDE - Eastern Oregon University's admissions office is holding a pizza social for anyone interested in applying or students who have already applied and have questions regarding the application process.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at New York Richie's Restaurant at the corner of West First Street and Island Avenue in Island City. Students should bring necessary paperwork including transcripts, housing contracts and advance tuition deposit.

Institute offers teacher training in the arts

SALEM - The Oregon Teacher Arts Institute 2007 will be held July 22-27 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. Elementary classroom and pre-service teachers as well as school and district administrators can benefit from the training.

There is a $300 fee, which covers instruction, materials, lodging and all meals. Participants receive 40 professional development units. Three graduate credits are also an option for $135.

Participants will concentrate on two areas of focus in theatre, creative dramatics, and visual arts; and experience daily dance and creative movement sessions. A series of optional studios and interactive performances will also be held.
