HERMISTON - It is time to round up a team for the 2003 American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, at the Hermiston High School track field.

Relay for Life is a race against the clock in the fight against cancer. The overnight event will benefit the Northwest Division of the ACS.

Local residents, former and current cancer patients and their families are invited to take part in this event. Teams include 10-15 participants, who take turns circling the track, in relay fashion. Teams will set up camps and pitch tents for the night, in "tent city" on the football field.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with the Survivors Lap and Ceremony and continue until the closing events at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

When team members aren't circling the track, they will participate in fun, family-oriented events, such as a pajama contest, scavenger hunt and more. Local entertainers will perform throughout the event. A Luminaria ceremony in honor and in memory of those who have been touched by cancer will take place at dark.

Anyone interested in sponsoring a team, being a team captain or volunteering to help can call Tricia at 564-9812, Carol at 376-8177, or Lou Ann at 567-8177.
