John and Hazel Dupper of Hermiston recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. The Duppers were married December 25, 1936 in Greeley, Colo. They have lived in the area for about 17 years.

John Dupper farmed in Colorado and worked in the woods, driving a cat in Oregon and Alaska. He also worked with bees in California prior to owning a bee-keeping business in Idaho before retiring to Hermiston.

Hazel Dupper helped on the farm, honey house and always grew a big garden.

The couple has six children, including three they adopted. Their family includes Aldean Warren, Cleona, Penn.; Lavenia Casey, Hermiston; Dr. Gil Dupper, Redlands, Calif.; Lee Dupper, Tucson, Ariz.; Robert Dupper, San Bernardino, Calif. and the late Charles Dupper, who died 26 years ago.

The Duppers have 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Lavenia Casey held a party for her parents at Ashley Manor in celebration of their anniversary.
