Virginia and La Verne Keithley will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from noon-3 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Heppner Odd Fellows Lodge. The couple is requesting all their friends attend the party, adding that they do not want any gifts.

La Verne Keithley married Virginia "Ginger" Schwarzin on Jan. 13, 1957, at the Heppner Christian Church. They have lived in the Heppner area all their lives.

Mrs. Keithley worked at Coast to Coast for several years and was employed at Peterson's Jewelers for 14 years. She volunteers at the Heppner Neighborhood Center. Her hobbies include sewing, ceramics and selling her crafts at various holiday bazaars.

Mr. Keithley has worked as a local farm hand and at the Kinzua Mill. He's also been a self-employed woodwork and now works for the Morrow County Park District as an RV park care taker. He's a member of the Elks Lodge, helps at the Neighborhood Center and helps his wife at craft shows.

The couple's children are Ruth Ann Keithley and Dave Aitken of Irrigon, Linda and Brian Voltz of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Suzanne and Jerry Buentello of Milton-Freewater and Jay and Kellyjo Keithley of Heppner. They also have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
