Christina Berry?s ?stranger than fiction? way of life has come to imitate her art. The 1995 Pendleton High Shool graduate, who used to read to kids during the Pendleton Public Library summer reading program, is returning to her roots for a couple of book signings and a presentation at the library.
Berry graduated from Pacific University with a degree in math, with an emphasis in French. But her degree in literature represents her true passion.
She will appear Monday from noon to 2 p.m., at Crossroads Books and More, 604 S.W. Dorion Ave., Pendleton. Later, at 7 p.m., in the library?s community room, 501 S.W. Emigrant Ave., she will share in a ?heart to heart? discussion about her journey into publication.
Berry?s book, ?The Familiar Stranger,? is a faith-based Christian novel.
In the book, Craig Littleton has decided to end his marriage with his wife, Denise. But an accident lands him in the intensive care unit with fuzzy memories. As Denise helps him remember who he is, she uncovers some dark secrets. Will this trauma create a fresh start? Or has his deceit destroyed the life they built together?
As a child, Berry loved libraries.
?If not for my library card, which always carried the maximum number of books during the summer, I never would have become a writer,? she said.
The library book signing will include a PowerPoint presentation, tips for new writers and a drawing to give away two copies of her book. People can pick up a copy of her book at a special discounted price of $12.
