Former Hermiston resident Martha Cullers, of Renton, Wash., celebrated her 90th birthday Aug. 15 with over 50 family and friends at Hat Rock.

The celebration started out with 90 balloons being delivered, followed by music, food and wonderful memories shared of growing up in Hermiston. Everyone then went to the Farm-City Pro Rodeo, where Martha's birthday was announced. After the rodeo, the group went back out to Hat Rock for a display of fireworks for all to enjoy.

With encouragement by Martha, and much reluctance from her four sons (Lee, Bob, Fred and Jerry Culler, ages 70, 67, 65 and 59) and Richard Scarlelt of Hermiston, who has been like a fifth son to Martha, the guys all finally agreed they would dance around the pool in tutus. They finished by jumping in the pool and performing water aerobics for Martha. A great laugh was had by all.

Martha and her husband, Chet Cullers, raised their sons in the Pendleton and Hermiston areas.
