Rain didn't dampen the spirits of the participants for the children's games June 13 at the City Park during Celebrate Heppner, said Sheryll Bates, Heppner Chamber of Commerce executive director. Winners for contests included:
Hot dog eating contest: Ages 11-15 first place, Skyler Hawk; second, Patrick Collins; 16-19, first, Andrew Bar; second, Drew Johnson; 19 and over: first, Matt Best; second Mike Dixon.
Tricycle Race: 3-4 year olds: First place, Landon Mitchell; second, Hannah Mitchell; 5-6 year olds: First, Brian Lindsay; second Marley Mitchell.
Egg Toss: 11-18 years of age: First, Kai and Mindy Arbogast; second: Donald Matthews and Tommy Broadfield.
Water Balloon Toss: 6-10 years of age: First, Alex Lindsay and Cara Arbogast; second, Xavier Clover and Dakota Howard, 11-18 years of age: First, Donald Matthews and Patrick Collins; second, Wade Matthews and Maggie Collins.
Small Dog Races: First place: "Donnie," Jerry and Carmen Healy; second, "Oden," Ruth Eadler; third, "Annabelle," Ayla Scott.
Dessert Winners, Adult Division: First Place, Carie Brosnan; second, Phyllis Piper; third, Melissa Jo Monaco; Honorable Mention, Phyllis Piper. Junior Division: First, Caitlynn Bailey; second Ella McCormack.
Talent Show Winners: 5 years and younger: Narin and Noah Stone sang "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star;" kindergarten to second grade: Madison Combe sang "The Climb;" third through sixth grade: First, Kai and Cara Arbogast sang "I Can Do Anything You Can Do;" second, Lany Stone sang "What A Wonderful World;" third, Patrick Collins sang "I Believe I Can Fly;" fourth, Emily Pappas performed a Saxophone special.
