Karen Hill is the new president of Pendleton Rotary Club, and Chuck Wood slips into the role of past president.
Hill, who is the marketing director for Blue Mountain Community College, oversaw her first Rotary meeting Monday.
"I'm just carrying on a long legacy of leadership to the club," Hill said. "And I give kudos to Chuck Wood for an absolutely exemplary year as president."
The Pendleton Rotary Club boasts 120 members, making it one of the largest in Oregon. The general membership elects an 8-member Board of Directors, which in turn nominates and elects the president, who serves for a year. The president also serves as the board's chief executive officer.
Hill joined Rotary eight years ago and has served on the board for four years. She said she's excited about her new role and is looking forward to the coming year, in which the club's Community Project Committee will bring new ideas to the membership about how to positively impact Pendleton.
Hill said the many contacts and friends she has made through the service club has helped her grow, as has meeting several international guests Rotary has hosted.
"That has certainly opened my world and been rewarding," Hill said.
