Hodaka faithful cruise into Athena

The Hodaka Days parade drew many participants from across the country — 53 years after the last Hodaka trail bikes and motorcycles were manufactured in Athena.

A Hodaka enthusiast from Plainsboro, New Jersey, was thrilled to be in Eastern Oregon recently for the Hodaka Days event.

Although it’s been 53 years since the trail bikes and motorcycles were made in Athena, people are still hooked on Hodakas, said Stu Gillard, who owns a 1972 Hodaka 100B+. The Hodaka faithful, Gillard said, will continue to converge on Athena each year for the poker run, the Bad Rock Trail Ride, the swap meet, barbecue, time trials and a chance to catch up with fellow Hodaka lovers. Gillard said the event offers something for the entire family.
