Hospice worker makes dream team

Cyde Estes, volunteer coordinator for Pioneer Memorial Hospice, has made the state's Hospice Dream Team.

Estes recently was recognized by the Oregon Hospice Association as Volunteer Coordinator of the Year. Estes became volunteer coordinator for Pioneer Memorial Hospice in 2003. Pioneer Memorial Hospice cares for terminally ill patients throughout Morrow and Gilliam counties, mostly in their places of residence, and has more than 30 trained volunteers throughout the two counties.

Molly Rhea, Pioneer's director of nursing, home health and hospice, said Estes adds hospice duties to an already packed schedule.

Estes, who is an assessor for Morrow County, runs volunteer meetings three nights a month and conducts periodic training sessions throughout the year.
