Winners of Lucky Leprechaun have found their pot of gold.
Lynnea and Stan Stanhope followed all 20 clues hidden in downtown Pendleton from mid-February to St. Patrick’s Day to find the clues at the end. They won $200, which was donated by Banner Bank.
Organized by the Pendleton Downtown Association, this was the first year of the treasure hunt. The first clue was published in the Feb. 17-18 edition of the East Oregonian. The downtown association put together 20 rhyming clues hidden in downtown businesses and places of work.
“It just started out being, let’s see if this is the right place. Getting closer to the pot of gold I got obsessed.” Lynnea says.
Those involved with the contest had as much fun as those seeking to find the pot of gold. Chris Sykes, downtown association vice president, said he is ready to do it again. Molly Turner, PDA executive director, said making the clues was challenging and an absolute ball.
“We’re thrilled that Lynnea was able to find the last clue — it was pretty tricky,” Turner said.
