One suspect has been arrested but three others remain at large after a forced-entry burglary in Boardman.
Jorge Gameros, 18, of Boardman, was arrested after a long foot chase and has been charged with strangulation, two counts of robbery, burglary, assault, theft and criminal mischief.
According to Boardman police chief Rick Stokoe, the men, believed to be four in number, approached a Boardman home about 4 p.m. Thursday and forced themselves in the front door, possibly by using a firearm. An adult woman was inside the home. She was assaulted by the intruders but was not seriously injured, said Stokoe. The call to 9-1-1 came from inside the home, he said. Stokoe would not release any more details about the crime Thursday night. Stokoe did not release a description of the suspects.
About 15 officers from Boardman city police and Morrow County Sheriffs Office searched the area for the suspects, said Stokoe. There was a long foot pursuit of more than 30 minutes, crossing Interstate 84 at least once, before Gameros was captured. The officers set up a?perimeter to try to locate the other suspects, said Stokoe. Some remained at the scene late Thursday night.
Stokoe believes a firearm was used in the burglary. He said though three men remain at large, he said there was no reason to panic.?He reminded Boardman residents to be cautious when opening doors to strangers.
Gameros was transported to Umatilla County jail Thursday and will be arraigned Friday.
